The Importance of LAP-BAND® Follow-Up Visits

Lindsey Kesel - Monday, March 14, 2011

If you’ve done your research, you know that the LAP-BAND® procedure is not a quick fix for obesity. It requires time and effort on your part to reach a healthy Body Mass Index (BMI) and maintain a healthy weight throughout your lifetime. Part of this effort involves scheduling follow-up time with your Wellink Surgical Weight Loss Center team.

Managing Your Progress

When you look at all of the weight loss success stories, you notice one common theme: support from family and friends, other LAP-BAND® patients, and your LAP-BAND® team. Your commitment is so important for visible results, and that includes committing to letting your weight loss team provide proper supervision.

A weight loss rate of 2 pounds or more is attainable with your discipline and Dr. Weaver’s management. Feel free to visit last week’s blog entitled Making Friends With the Scale: Your Ideal Weight Loss Rate for more details.

Your Follow-Up Team

Since LAP-BAND® results vary greatly based on individual factors, regular follow-up visits are crucial to help you reach a weight loss rate that is safe and optimal. Dr. Weaver and his colleagues — nutritionist Dr. Paula Pierce, psychologist Dr. Susan Silver, Care Coordinator Natalie Cardenas, and Physician Assistant Thomas L. Bachinski — will devote their time and talents to helping you succeed with LAP-BAND®. Dr. John Weaver has the experience you need to achieve success. His recommendations for each patient’s post-surgical program are based on individual characteristics as well as the great results he has helped others achieve.

Your Formula for Weight Loss

If you are not hitting your expected weight loss rate of 1 – 2 pounds per week, any number of adjustments may be needed with your diet, activity level, and Band size. If you are following your diet and fitness recommendations loyally and still not seeing results, Dr. Kirshenbaum may recommend a Band fill adjustment, where saline is added or removed to inflate or deflate the device.

The Wellink team cannot stress enough how important it is for you to check in with them periodically in order to ensure you’re meeting your short-term and long-term goals. You’ve tried so many times to lose the weight and now the Wellink Team is devoted to making it happen for good. Trust them and you’ll see the results you want.

If you are ready to take the next step and learn how LAP-BAND® surgery can improve your quality of life, Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum and his team are available for a personal consultation. Please contact Wellink Surgical Weight Loss Center today to get set up.
