I was working as a Marketing Representative at a surgery center where Dr. Kirshenbaum performs surgery. Part of my job was to recruit surgeons to do new procedures. I was asked to find a surgeon who would be interested in doing the Lap-Band® surgery...
Dr. Kirshenbaum is a highly respected General Surgeon and I have known him for a number of years so I asked him about doing it. After learning more about the surgery and how it worked I decided that weighing 276 lbs myself that it was something I should consider having done. Diabetes runs in my family and my father died of a heart attack at 57 years. I had high blood pressure and was diagnosed as a borderline diabetic, I had three surgeries on my knees. I also had plantar fascitis from carrying the extra weight. Dr. Kirshenbaum started doing the procedure in July of 2005 and I became his 5th patient. It has been over two years since I had the procedure done and my current weight is 171 lbs. I no longer take blood pressure meds and my borderline diabetes is cleared. I would not have been able to achieve this goal had it not have been for the Lap-Band®. I believe very much in this procedure and the best part is that it is a minimal invasive procedure. I am such a believer that the procedure works that I have now become the Bariatric Coordinator for Dr. Kirshenbaum. If you are considering doing the surgery I would love to talk with you and I will be happy to answer your questions. My favorite new phrase:
"Believe In Yourself And Others Will Begin To Believe Also."
