I have been overweight most of my adult life, my highest weight being 403 lbs. I hit rock bottom about 2 years ago. I had Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol and my knees had basically given out. I was on 12 prescription medications. I decided to have Lap-Band surgery in January of 2007 and since then my life has only gotten better...

I was 30 years old when my husband who was 32 died in an automobile accident. It hit me very quickly that I was a widow having to raise my daughter alone. I began to patch my broken heart with food. My weight continued to go up and I hated to look at myself in the mirror. I was wearing maternity clothes with elastic waistbands on all of my pants. April 19, 2006 changed my life forever. This is the date of my Lap-Band® surgery. My entire experience with Dr. Kirshenbaum and his staff has been nothing but positive. There are no judgments placed upon you, no guilt that you don't have enough "will power", only a helping hand.

I felt I was at the end of my rope. I gave up on my insurance company paying for the Lap Band surgery and was about to pay 17K for the surgery with another doctor. In doing my research I stumbled upon the www.lapbandrockies.com website and found Dr Kirshenbaum. I was so happy that he would do the service for less than 10K.

November 2006 I was on my last nerve contesting my insurance with Kaiser to get them to pay for gastric bypass surgery. I had been on their list for 18 months and now my insurance doesn't cover weight management. After a conference call with their attorney, three doctors and two of the insurance agents. In tears I told them that I needed the surgery to save my life....
October 16th 2007 - As I am at my desk, having my protein Advant Edge shake, I am doing well. Have lost 20 pounds since starting the pre-op diet. However, the last few days have remained static, but I do feel "smaller". Today I am in a suit that I have not worn for the past year!!
Meeting Dr. Kirshenbaum for the initial discussion about Lap-Band ® surgery was a breath of fresh air; he actually was offering me a way to lose the weight that virtually every diet in the known world couldn't do!
